How to break in new shoes

Nýir skór á gólfinu

Today I wanted to share with you my best tip when it comes to breaking in new shoes. I can’t count how many times I have bought shoes that I then ended up never using. Not because the heel was to high or because they didn’t go with anything, but because they were just so darn uncomfortable as soon as I started to walk in them.

If this has happened to you as well I thought it might be a good idea to share my best tip for new shoes! After I discovered it I was able to start using shoes that I never thought I would use… ever! The tip is simple and just requires a thick sock (or 2-3 pairs of regular socks) and a hairdryer.

What I do is I put on the thick sock and then I put on the shoes.

When the shoe is on my foot I set the hairdryer to “heat” and direct it to the shoe itself. I hold it there until the shoe gets warm but I’m careful that it won’t become to hot. I would just like to mention that I don’t recommend doing this to a genuine pair of leather shoe as the leather may dry and crack.

When the shoe heats up it expands. When the shoe is hot enough to do this you should turn of the hairdryer and let the shoe cool down while it is still on your feet. When it cools it will have shaped to the size of your foot.

This is such an amazing tip for high heeled shoes and I will for sure be using it when I have to break in my wedding shoes for our big day :)

Hopefully you will find the tip useful!
